Seeking solitude

As a young boy, I found myself raised in two diametrically opposed worlds; five days a week I lived within the narrow confines of a catholic boarding school; then over the weekend, I escaped into the African veld, equiped with a machete and slingshot, and a dog for security.  Over time I gradually developed my survival skills that came in handy during latter years while serving mandatory military service in Sub-Saharan Africa. Today, I yearn for open space, far from the madding crowd; to hear nature, feel freedom, and unwind from the past.
